World Congress on science in Athletics

(Weltkongress zur Wissenschaft in der Leichtathletik)

Aims and objectives * To identify, share and compare the contributions made in the field of athletics by universities, research and training centres, companies, sports federations, the media, and the community of athletes, coaches and other professionals involved in this sport around the world * To facilitate the exchange of experience and research results, and to promote dialogue between athletics professionals working in diverse fields * To collaborate in developing those areas of knowledge and fields of research associated with science in athletics * To encourage the development of innovative proposals regarding the future of world athletics, designing programmes and initiatives that respond to the challenges of the modern social world. Structure of the congress The Congress is structured into 4 ambits or thematic areas and will consist of 10 keynote addresses by internationally renowned experts, 4 round tables, 4 practical workshops, around 50 oral communications and 25 posters. The thematic areas are the following: * Training in athletics (methodology, technologies, experiences, theory and practice, applied sciences, disabled athletics) * Athletics education (in universities, vocational training programmes, primary and secondary schools, sports initiation schools, clubs, coaching schools, talent-spotting programmes) * Journalism, media and athletics * The present and future of athletics
