USA Judo
USA Judo exists for the purpose of serving as the national governing body for the sport of judo in the United States in accordance with the Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act, 36 U.S.C. § 220501 et seq. (the "Sports Act") and, as such, to be a member of the United States Olympic Committee (the "USOC").
Mission.
In furtherance of its purpose, the mission of USA Judo is to enable United States athletes to achieve sustained competitive excellence in domestic and international amateur judo competition and to promote and grow the sport of judo in the United States.
USA Judo, a 501-c-3 non-profit organization, is governed by a Board of Directors. Per the USA Judo Bylaws, the Board of Directors consists of 10 directors. Currently these directors are comprised as follows:
• The existing members of the USA Judo Executive Committee, who have already been elected to serve on the USA Judo Board of Directors and who have existing terms of service that continue until October 2008 (with the exception of the Chair of the USA Judo Law and Legislation Committee and the USA Judo Director of Operations, who stepped down upon the adoption of the revised bylaws in April 2006);
USA Judo is managed on a day-to-day basis by a six-member full-time staff in the USA Judo National Office, located at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
