The authors consider the basic stages of the psychological analysis of the activity of a personality, allowing the deepening of modern representations on the structure and mechanisms of the formation of the psychology of athletes. The features of the social-psychological aspects of the sports activity are retraced, the questions of psychodiagnosis and selection in sports are highlighted also. The contents of the article is based on the works of the world famous psychologists.
