Poziom i wspólzaleznosc wybranych zdolnosci kondycyjnych oraz koordynacyjnych u mlodych koszykarzy Polski i Bialorusi

(The levels of and interrelationships between various condition and co-ordinative abilities in young Polish and Belarussian basketball players)

So far, sport game players were assessed with respect to their condition abilities and technical advancement. The latter depends on the co-ordination level, but the training procedures used for that purpose do not bring improvement. The aim of the study was thus (1) an evaluation of motor abilities of young Polish and Belarussian basketball players, (2) a comparison of both groups of athletes in that respect, and (3) determining the relationships between condition and co-ordination abilities. Two sets of examinations were conducted: in the first one participated basketball players, aged 16-22 years, from Poland (n = 39) and Belarus (n = 10). In the other series participated younger athletes, aged 14 years, from Poland (n = 17) and Belarus (n = 15). Various tests were employed to determine their motor abilities. It was concluded that (1) the results of motor tests were in Polish and Belarussian players alike, (2) some co-ordination indices were significantly correlated with the results of 20 m-run, shuttle run and vertical jump, (3) no significant correlation was found between the results of co-ordination test and slalom run, (4) Polish and Belarussian young basketball players differed only slightly from each other with respect to condition abilities, (5) Both groups of players differed remarkably with regard to the strength of selected muscle groups.
