How to develop healthy attitudes towards racing in age-group swimmers

It is usual for inexperienced swimmers to develop their attitudes towards competing through trial-and-error experiences and less than adequate direction from a coach. Often they are subjected to conflicting instructions when teammates, parents, and the coach all give "helpful" directions. Principles Involved With Age-group Competing are given.
