Pole vault drills

Terry Lomax presents progressive pole vault drill sequences that start slow and easy and progress in both speed and skill difficulty. Beginning with pole vault approach skills, Coach Lomax teaches a walk-skip-hop progression utilizing a short 4-foot pole. He proceeds to pole press and pole drop techniques before adding the approach to the plant and press. This leads into a 3-stride drill followed by a 6-stride drill. Next, Lomax moves to a sand pit to drill the plant and ride over with a short approach. The final sequence of the pole vault drill progression is the short approach into the box and pit. Lomax concludes with full pole vault demonstrations. Lomax also includes a dynamic warm-up and stretch routines that are specific for the pole vault.
