CCC launching a competition model review

CCC has initiated a major integration of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles and best practices in its various high performance and development programs while also promoting these principles towards clubs and divisions. CCC is now at a stage where they need and want to undertake a thorough review process of its competition model because competition is valued a key component of an athlete long term development. A Competition Review working group has been formed that will be asking itself the following questions: 1. Are our racing categories and respective range of race distances, formats and rules in line with LTAD and our own sport specific development stages priorities? 2. Are the recommended ratios of racing vs training appropriate for each stage of development? 3. To be consistently successful at the international level, how many athletes do we need at each stage of development? What level of performance should they achieve? 4. Is our national ranking system (the CPL) and its use at both national and provincial levels reflective of LTAD principles? Is it our master or our servant…?
