(Einige somatische Merkmale der sportlichen Meisterschaft und der Sinn ihrer Vorausbestimmung im Volleyball)
The aim of the research is to analyse the basic indices of height, weight and age of the main volley-ball players in team competitions of Poland and the Olympic Games in the period of 1986-1996. The prognosis of the indices mentioned above for the year 2000-2002 is presented. The data about members of Polish combined team in 1998 are being compared with the data about the team-winners in the recent six years. It has been forecast that in 2002 the age of players in the teams placed 1-4 at the prestigious world tournaments will balance between 26.7 and 28.3 years; in the teams-finalists - between 25.1 and 26.8 years. The height indices of the teams placed 1-4 will balance between 199.0 and 202.0 cm in the teams-finalists - between 196.3-199.3 cm. Weight indices will be from 89.8 to
93.0 kg and from 87.8 to 90.7 kg respectively. The mean of height in the team of the Netherlands which won the gold medal at the Atlanta Olympic Games was 201.6 cm, whereas the mean of height of the Olympic champions of 1992 Brazilian team was -195.6 cm, of the 1988 Olympic champions the USA team - was -193.9 cm. It is supposed that the mean of height of the main team players at the Olympic Games in Sydney will be higher. In the period of 1976-1993 the height indices of the teams which became Olympic champions increased by 116.0 cm (p<0.01). It is indicated that indices of the players in the team of Poland are close to mastership model: height from 195.0 to 205.0 cm, weight from 86.0 to 92.0 kg, age from 23.0 to 29.0 years.
