Development and position data related application of a stochastic model for trajectory simulation of a non-spinning volleyball
(Entwicklung einer Applikation und Positionsdaten einer stochastischen Modellsimulation der Flugbahn eines nicht-rotierenden Volleyballs)
Modeling the knuckling effect in volleyball aerodynamics is essential for representing and analyzing erratic motion in a competition related task.
While most previous research on knuckleballs has been carried out empirically, theoretical investigations, such as those allowing for bidirectional curvature generation in the ball flight trajectory simulation, are not yet available (e.g., MacKenzie et al., 2012). Therefore, based on net crossings of near-constant height, this study deals with uncertainty quantification in numerical ball flight trajectories evaluation. An overarching aim in global uncertainty quantification was an investigation on the influence of position data to enable a systematic identification of different kinds of sport-specific application.
