The distance model for success

Exercise scientists have found that most major differences in endurance performance can be explained in terms of three variables: VO2max, lactate threshold, and running economy. The article features these three variables. It is discussed why each one is important to distance runners. (This article originally appeared in the February 2001 issue of Northwest Runnermagazine.)
