"Survival analysis" applied to the population of the registered swimmers of the French federation of swimming (21997-2003)
This research is designed to a new tool for analysis of federal files. Complementary to the traditional analysis of the files of registered swimmers, the longitudinal follow-up of the registered swimmers and in particular, survival analysis make it possible to have information about the length of affiliation of the swimmers as members of the French federation of swimming (FFN) and about explanatory factors which are correlated. The study starting from the registered swimmers file of 1997 to 2003 underline categories of the swimmers most likely to quit. Moreover, survival analysis has the particularity of measuring the influence of events occurring during the sporting itinerary, like a change of club or a pause. Applied starting from an ordinary file (not conceived for this specific analysis), analysis of duration could be an important tool to set up measurements aiming to improve loyalty of registered swimmers.
