A preventative strengthening program for the shoulder on the ATP Tour
The shoulder of the tennis player is exposed to heavy demands, which may lead to muscle imbalances and instability. This mainly involves increased laxity at the front of the shoulder and weakness at the back, with loss of scapular stability. A preventative exercise program is therefore a must for every tennis player, in order to avoid shoulder injuries in the long run.
This article presents a series of exercises that are commonly prescribed to ATP Tour players for the maintenance of good muscular balance and strength of the shoulder.
