Poling force in cross-country skiing, comparison between three different techniques

In this study we analyze the biomechanical parameters characterizing the poling action in three different techniques: diagonal stride, double poling and skating. The measurements were carried out at different velocity and grades in order to systematically analysis the changes across a wide range of power output. The knowledge of pole forces required in the different conditions could constitute a scientific base for teaching and training of cross- country skiers.
