USATF BOARD LAYS PLANS FOR RESTRUCTURING IN DECEMBER In response to a longstanding mandate from the USOC for all NGBs to examine their governing structures, and as a continuation of a process USATF began on its own in 2003, the USATF Board voted at its in-person meeting of June 21-22 in Columbus, Ohio, to significantly downsize the Board and remove most elements of direct constituency-based representation. As it has been proposed by USATF to the USOC, the new Board will focus on planning, policy, fiduciary responsibility, and legal matters. The current Board will be moved to a subsidiary role as the "volunteer leadership group," providing input to the new Board and providing leadership to the massive volunteer structure of USATF. USA Track & Field will continue working directly with the USOC in coming months to complete a restructuring that promotes the goals of both organizations and keeps USATF on the path as a leading NGB and the effective governing body for the World's #1 Track & Field Team.
