A computer model of the swimmer's body in fluid flow

The main goal of this study was to determine the minimal distance between two swimmers so that the draft force of the lead swimmer does not affect the one at his rear. We were also able to specify the best possible position of the swimmer's body during swimming (diving), so the resistance of the environment is adjusted to minimal. These facts allow trainers not only to manage a whole group of swimmers so that they do not affect each other`s performance during the training, but also eventually to suggest correction in the swimming technique for each of them. It was found that the relative coefficient of resistance of the drafting swimmer was reduced by 50 % for the distance of 60-70cm, 95% for 6-7m and totally reduced for the distance of 8m.
