Altura percentual do centro de gravidade em canoístas de elite

(Percentage height of the center of gravity in elite canoers)

The aim of this study was to compare the height of the center of gravity and anthropometric characteristics of male athletes of the canoeing Brazilian team with non-athletes. Eight canoers of the canoeing Brazilian team, eight active non-athlete men and eight active non-athlete women participated in this study group. To measure the height of the center of gravity the plank of reaction method was used. The results showed that the canoers (58.04 ± 0.43%) had higher percentage of the center of gravity in relation to their height than men (57.10 ± 0.81%) and women (55.89 ± 1.29%), respectively. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that canoeing elite athletes exhibit a more elevated body center of gravity than active non-athletes men, and both (canoers men and non-athletes men) have the center of gravity more elevated than active women.
