Network — Análise da interacção e dinâmica do jogo de Futebol
(Network — Analysis of the interaction and dynamics of the game of Football)
The methodology that supports networks has been previously used in sport to describe the dynamics of interpersonal interactions occasioned by competitive performance. Therefore, the purpose of the present study is to verify to what extent the interactions that arise between players in a soccer game are crucial to team`s success. In that sense, 213 team actions and 237 offensive interactions of the professional Portuguese football team, observed during the premier league match, were analyzed. The Amisco® software was used to perform the quantitative analysis of team actions (e.g., passes, ball receptions, shots on goal, crosses, ball rebounds, faults and game collective actions). Behavioral conducts of the players were recorded through a schematic representation (i.e., football pitch divided into 24 zones), proposed by the Amisco® software. Perhaps the professional football team analyzed acts as a dynamic network that emerges from several interpersonal interactions. The network that emerges from the football game allow us to decode the purposes of the players and team behavior. Moreover, enables mapping technical and tactical actions that results from the interaction of key-players.
