An investigation into the coaching approach of a successful world class soccer coach: Anson Dorrance

The success of an athletic team depends to a great extent on the quality of the leadership and coaching skills of the coach. Coaches, practitioners and sport psychologists have shown great interest in investigating effective approaches of successful coaches. In competitive sport areas, researchers want to determine the relationship between coaching approaches and peak performance. The purpose of the current study was two-fold: i) to investigate successful coaching approaches of a world-class soccer coach; and ii) to discuss how current research findings may be helpful to sport coaches.
