Correlation of foundation and special physical fitness features in under 18 female soccer athletes in China
(Beziehung zwischen grundlegenden und spezifischen physischen Fitnessmerkmalen bei U18-Fußballspielerinnen in China)
Introduction:
This study aimed to identify the functional and match related characteristics mong different positions for young female soccer players. Data was collected during winter training in 2006. Methods
The investigation tested 11 tasks in 160 female athlete participants. The tests included: X1:30 meter running, X2:obstacle running, X3: standing triple jump, X4: sit-ups, X5: push-ups, X6: the distance throwing a ball, X7: 5×25 re-entry running, Y1: the accuracy level of catching the ball, holding the ball and passing the ball, Y2: shots using instep, Y3: distance of header, Y4: passing the ball to the centre and shooting, andY5: the accuracy level of catching the ball when moving. The data was analysed using SPSS version 13.0 the contents correlation analysis, cluster analysis, principal component analysis and multiple regression analyses. Literature and interviews with experts were used to obtain information in the interpretation of the data.
Results
The general fitness measures were significantly different relative to different positions, including results on obstacle running, standing triple jump, sit-up test and push-up test. .Obstacle running and 5×25 re-entry running significantly correlated with the accuracy level of catching the ball, holding the ball and passing the ball (P<0.01). Push-up test results directly correlated with time to get down then pass the ball to the centre and shoot (P<0.01) and with the accuracy level of catching, holding, and passing the ball (P<0.05).
Conclusions
Different positions in the game require a different level of physical fitness and skill components, and this should be evaluated and used by coaches when selecting for particular positions in the team.
