Capturing and visualizing large scale human action
Homepage of the Stiftelsen för Strategisk Forskning (SSF) funded project Capturing and Visualizing Large scale Human Action.
Project's aim
The goal of this project is to build a 3D reconstruction of the motion of all the players during a professional fooball game. This has numerous potential applications especially for the visualization of the game for spectators and its transmission for broadcastors. And also it would be of great interest to the games industry to obtain high quality motion capture from real games.
It is intended to construct this 3D reconstruction using visual data and a minimal amount of manual intervention. It is a challenging goal. But one distinct advantage this project has over previous ones is that it will have access to complete tracking data, that is each player's position on the field at every timestep, provided by the company TRACAB. Tracab has a real-time football player system which is employed regularly on AllSvenskan (Sweden's premier league) and Champions League games.
