Verletzungsmuster im Fußball

(Injuries in football)

In a review of the current literatur the most common injuries in soccer, their therapy and possible prevention are discussed. In total 70% of the injuries affect the lower extremity. Leading injuries are sprains of the lateral collateral ligaments of the ankle joint as the most common lower grade lesion (17%) and ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee (11%) as the most common severe trauma, followed acute or chronic back-foot pain and impingement of the upper ankle joint. Longterm complications of these injuries and problems specific to juvenile soccer are illustrated and discussed.
