A laymans guide to factors affecting multiple revolution jumps

(Eine allgemein verständliche Einführung zu den Faktoren, die die Ausführung von Mehrfachsprüngen beeinflussen)

The skaters objective when performing multiple revolution jumps is to complete enough rotations in the air to enable them to land under control in the required position. From a performance perspective, it is logical to assume that a skater whose maximum capacity to rotate is exactly equal to what is required to complete a jump would miss landings more frequently than a skater whose capacity exceeds that which is needed for the jump. Simply stated, the skater who has a reserve has more room for error. The factors that enable a skater to rotate during a jump can be divided into two parts: 1) factors that occur before the skater leaves the ice (pre-takeoff), and 2) factors that occur after the skater leaves the ice (flight phase).
