The article presents the definition of the features of technical and tactical actions of athletes of the world short track at a distance of 500 meters for men. The study used data from the analysis of special literature, viewing and analysis of videos and protocols of competitive activity. 27 world Championship races were analyzed. The conducted researches of competitive activity of short-trackers on a distance of 500 meters allowed us to establish the quantitative values of the technical and tactical actions. Data were obtained for the number of overtaking at a distance of 500 meters in men. The information on what circle of the distance the overtaking took place, and on what trajectory, has been analyzed. The most successful tactics for the distance of 500 meters have been revealed. Tactical techniques at each stage of the competition from preliminary to final races are described.
